It has been an overriding goal of the cluster members to work on a collaborative project among members. The goals of this project would be three-fold:Grid Security for Smart Grid: CSU and the City of Fort Collins Clean Energy Cluster have recently been awarded a Federal Grant to make a large portion of Fort Collins a Zero Energy District. FortZed may need collaboration when it comes to the grid security portion of this project. Timing and funding will be critical in order to see this collaboration through.About GIS
Forest Fire Prevention: the Remote Sensing Applications Center of the USDA Forest Service is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This group does not utilize automatic remote sensing of fires – they primarily use satellite data rather than anything nearer the ground. This is one opportunity that has been identified as a potential 2009 project. Spain and Australia do use ground remote sensing of fires. This group may study the work in those countries to create an opportunity in the US.
Infectious Disease -Dengue Fever: CSU is a predominant leader in Infectious Disease and Vector Bourne Illness prevention. There is an opportunity for some members of the GIS Cluster to become involved in software that will assist the few world locations of Decision Support Centers in order to gauge the disease on the ground in real time.
